“The ambition for happiness is natural and good, but the attempt to derive it from inert matter by so-called scientific arrangements is an illusory attempt doomed to frustration.”
“By nature we are eternal servants of the Supreme Lord and therefore cannot enjoy anything for our personal interests. It is therefore necessary to employ our senses in a transcendental services of the Lord, and utilize everything to serve His interest. This alone can bring about much desired peace. A part of the body cannot in itself be independently happy. It can derive its happiness and pleasure out of serving the entire body. The Supreme Lord is the whole, and we are the parts, but we are all busily engaged in activities of self-interests. No one is prepared to serve the Lord. This is the basic cause for our conditioning in material existence and for our resultant unhappiness.”- By his Devine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

To what extent do we get lost in our own desires which are polluted by selfish sense gratification, in pursuit of happiness? Does your happiness require a certain bank balance? Or does it require someone’s suffering? How do we achieve pure existence unplagued by material existence?
It cannot be argued that we live in a world where people need to satisfy themselves first before anything else can be of importance in their lives. We look out for those close to us first before anyone else can matter. A life of material possessions is the perceived happiness, which involves wealth accumulation. Wealth which needs to get accumulated at all costs, at times, even at the cost of human life. A world were people can eliminate a threat to their perceived happiness by any means, even if it means killing another. But think about it… Will those attempts lead to true happiness or you are just doomed to frustration?
You don’t need to be religious to be a servant of the Supreme Lord, you must at least acknowledge the existence of something beyond you, that is responsible for creation. And when looking at the creation, you see the beauty that comes from it, the beauty that comes from the people’s natural good qualities: L.O.V.E
Why allow lustful desires that are controlled by selfish urges to influence your pursuit to happiness? Is it not quite obvious our senses are best employed in good, not only to ourselves but also to others. One of my favourite pioneers of a positive lifestyle wrote:
“Love is the essence of the Universe.”

From these words it is quite clear that the good that I am talking about is in loving yourself enough to be able to show love to others. So when the love is only towards oneself but not others, it’s only a part of the body that is served and there cannot be any pleasure and happiness in that service. But when this love is also shown to others, it’s pleasure and happiness that is derived out of serving the entire body, the universal worship, that gives reward of pleasure and happiness.
Are you so determined to be anti-religious to a point that you cannot recognize your own happiness pursuit depends on a devotion to the universe/Lord? You just need to do good and be devoted in loving yourself enough to show love to others. I am in no business of converting anyone to some form of religion, I only offer a path to happiness that requires us to see the true essence of our Universe/Supreme Lord: L.O.V.E
Love yourself and love thy neighbour and Just be happy Mchana….
